Nursery
Welcome to the Cherry Buds Nursery at Burrington Church of England Primary School.
We welcome children from their third birthday with funding available for them from the term after their third birthday. The nursery runs as part of the Cherry Class and provides a seamless transition to the foundation stage of primary school. The nursery runs during term time only.
We aim to instill in these young minds a sense of curiosity and wonder as they explore the many activities on offer including construction, artistic activities, small world play, craft, stories, games, water, sand, play dough, jigsaws, maths puzzles, to name but a few.
Social skills are developed with care. Children are encouraged to be kind and helpful members of our school family. Through gentle guidance and encouragement, children develop independence, confidence and a deeper awareness of others.
The beautiful rural environment in which the school is set influences our play-based nursery curriculum. Children in the nursery take part in weekly forest school with a trained forest school leader, supported by other staff as we nurture their environmental awareness and love of nature from an early age.
It is our hope that learning is irresistible at the Cherry Buds Nursery!
Nursery year at Burrington School
Our nursery children (Cherry Buds) are based within the Cherry Classroom, with Reception and is situated in a purpose built Early Years environment with free-flow access to the outside play area, whatever the weather. They have a qualified teacher leading their learning, in addition to specialist nursery practitioner and teaching assistant. The children participate in Forest Schools on Monday afternoons. They will follow the Early Years curriculum at the appropriate level for them which is based on learning through play.
The nursery year is open to children from the day of their third birthday and is available on each day of the week from 8.45am until 3.15pm including lunchtime. We also offer a breakfast (from 7.45am) and after school (until 5.45pm) provision for families who require wrap around care. We accept nursery and childcare vouchers.
Children in nursery may choose to wear school uniform or their own clothes.
