Secondary Transition
The majority of children who attend our school go to ‘Churchill Academy and Sixth Form Centre’ in Year 7.
There are many opportunities for children to visit this school throughout their time at Burrington.
These include dedicated ‘transition’ events such as the ‘Transfer Day’ held in term 6, as well as other special events and collaborative projects held in association with the Academy e.g. drama days, sporting competitions, musical performances, swimming lessons.
In the summer term, staff from the Churchill Academy visit the school to meet the Year 6 children and their teachers.
Some children transfer to other schools in Year 7 and recent transition schools have included Bristol Grammar School, Wells Cathedral School, Chew Valley School and Redmaids. Whichever secondary school is chosen, we do our very best to ensure a highly successful and smooth transition.
We take a keen interest in the progress of our past pupils and we are always keen to hear of their continued successes!
